Alton Webteam: May 2022
There are four girls and three boys in the DofE Bronze group, and they enjoyed their two-day Practice Expedition in good weather at the beginning of May. Overnight camping was "wild" — they had been given permission to camp in the middle of private woodlands with just the most basic of "facilities" — a screened hole in the ground! Real "wild camping!" They managed to complete their journeying despite the odd navigational error, and are looking forward to tackling their Assessed Expedition in Surrey in September.
A fortnight later, the Year 8 Young Venturers undertook their one-day walk, with an overnight camp at the same place in the woods, and although they had some rain overnight, they were undaunted, and enjoyed making (and eating!) their pancakes in the morning before heading for home.
