Alton Webteam: January 2017
We have six new Bronze participants, who join the seven Silvers and four Golds at the church on Wednesday evenings as they prepare for their expeditions later in the year. We also have a new helper — Hannah Vasey moved from Nottinghamshire to Alton just before Christmas, and works for a Company that offers expedition experiences to DofE participants. She completed her own DofE Gold Award a few years ago, and is now part way through her Mountain Leader training. She has offered to help us with our DofE expeditions — an offer which we certainly did not refuse!

Well, who would have believed it! Our Young Venturers initiative seems to have been well received, as we now have four Year 7 pupils and seven Year 8 pupils signed up with us for this new initiative. Helen Wallace has agreed to help with the training, and the youngsters are keen to learn . . . and even more keen to get out-of-doors and off on their adventures.

However, they soon passed Wyck and continued, although not without further excitements, to Binsted, where they enjoyed an early...
