Amy Evans wedding

Congratulations to Lt Amy Evans (née Jones) who married Peter at the Harvest Church on Saturday 20th August. The congregation was swelled by 10 members of our company — five staff and five of the older girls who all stayed for tea and cake after the service. The more energetic members returned for the disco in the evening. Fortunately Peter and Amy have settled in Four Marks so we hope not to lose Amy any time soon.
We will be starting the new season of meetings on Monday 12th September. The Explorers (4½ — 7 years old) meet at 6pm and Juniors (8-10 years old), Seniors and Brigaders meet at 6.30pm. New members are always welcome, but the beginning of the season is a really good time to join, so if you know a girl who could be interested, please encourage her to come along and find out what we are about.
The Autumn term is punctuated by a series of regular events — the Enrolment Service on Sunday 9th October, the Remembrance Sunday parade, the Church Christmas Fair and our own GB Carol Evening. But this year we have a new event in prospect! Glenda Bentley (who as a GB officer helps to run the Explorer section and as a BB officer runs the Anchor Boys) is planning a Christmas Nativity, to be enacted by members of GB Explorers and BB Anchor Boys.
GB Officers from other companies in the Surrey Downs District were so impressed with our reports of the Circus Skills workshop we shared with the BB that they have arranged a District Fun Day on this theme for Saturday 24th September, hosted by the Woking Company.

Dear Friends,Everyone has been talking about how hot it has been in recent days with the temperature rising to 25-27 degrees centigrade on some occasions.Such heat often leads to thunderstorms which at the time of writing are due over the next couple of days!I was reading that thunderstorms occur when warm and cold air rub together, causing friction and energy in the sky, which makes...
