Alton Webteam: July 2016
Following the very generous donations that Christine and the family received in memory of Chris Burgess, £1,850 was given to Oriol's in his memory. The family thought you might like to know how this charity that Chris was connected with, are planning to spend the money.
That is incredible. Thank you so, so much, words cannot express how grateful I am and how much you are helping the service.
I would like to spend the money on 4 new microphones (2x Audio Technica 4040 and 2x Audioo Technica 4041s if that means anything to you), New studio monitors (speakers, Neuman KH120)
And running at least 3 groups for children with special educational needs throughout the summer holiday.
All studio equipment gets used on a daily basis by the service users and these pieces of equipment will greatly improve the recording quality which should attract more recording work. Therefore this is not only ensuring that service users are using the best equipment possible but should also be an investment into the longer term financial security of the project.
Currently over the summer we have no work on Fridays so we could utilise this time by running 3 sessions a day funded by the money raised. This would mean that we could potentially run 3 different age groups (or ability levels) and that we could offer this without charging for it (which would also mean special needs schools and other organisations will be more willing to help advertise it). It would be really nice if I was able to do this in Chris' name and perhaps name it the Chris Burgess Summer School or something similar providing you are happy for me to do this.
I am also hoping to move my Tuesday sessions over to a Wednesday so I may do the same type of thing for Tuesdays. I will work towards this over the next week and let you know if this is feasible. I will also start doing the preparation for the summer sessions this week and will send you the plans for your approval.
I hope this is all ok but please feel free to contact me if there is anything you feel you would like to change or have any other concerns or queries.
Many, many thanks and best wishes,
