Alton Webteam: September 2016
Today we have been reminded at our Covenant Services that we are linked with God in a special way. This is a two-way agreement; if we put God first then we can rely on his promises. 'I am no longer my own but yours.' Pray that as a church community we will grow together in faith and action. 'Where there is work for me and where there is none' Pray for those with concerns about their job, for the unemployed and the retired who are feeling a lack of purpose. 'When I am troubled and when I am at peace'. Pray for those who are weighed down with problems, that they will find the right sort of help. 'When I am valued and when I am disregarded'. Pray for all who suffer from lack of self-esteem, for those in abusive situations that they may know the reassurance of God's love. 'When I find fulfilment and when it is lacking'. Pray for those who are feeling frustration — perhaps being unable to do what they could, or are unable to use their skills. Pray for those who need our prayers particularly at this time ...........'When I have all things, and when I have nothing'. Pray for those who are struggling financially or who think they must have material possessions, especially those who get into debt to achieve it. 'I willingly offer all I have and am to serve you, as and where you choose.' Pray for all those taking up new appointments in the Methodist Connexion, especially Chris our new superintendent minister and Keith in his new circuit. We pray for John and Karen Scrivens who have not been able to come to Alton due to health problems.
'Glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. May it be so for ever. Let this covenant now made on earth be fulfilled in heaven. Amen'.
